ALBANY, GA. -- The movie "Courageous" made an impact in theaters by opening in the top 10 and now in its opening week, the DVD is making an even bigger impact.

DVD sales for the Sherwood Pictures production has debuted at number one according to data from Nielsen VideoScan.

A representative for Provident Films, the distributing company, says given the line of competition against the film, this milestone comes as a surprise.

This is the third movie DVD released by Sherwood Pictures.

Film insiders says the message behind the film will keep sales going strong.

“The first week is always a big week but we think that "Courageous" is going to be a big seller for a long time. The concept of fatherhood is not going to go out of style,” said Provident Films Senior Vice President Ben Howard.

Howard expects "Courageous" to become the go-to movie when it comes to fatherhood.
