ALBANY, GA --
A barber shop owner was shot Wednesday night as he was preparing to close his shop.

Albany police say Wednesday evening around 7:30 p.m., the owner of Cat's Cuts, Franklin Thomas, 37, was preparing to close his shop when the suspect walked in the business. They say the victim told the suspect he was closing; APD says at that point the suspect pulled out a weapon and shot the victim in the left shoulder then fled the scene.

Investigators say the victim was able to get to a phone to call for help.

"He said that after I left and the other two barbers left a guy opened the door and he told them 'I'm sorry but the shop is now closed.' And he said the guy made the comment 'Well that's good' and pulled out a pistol and shot him," says Joe Frazier, the employee Thomas called. Thomas was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Frazier says they have never had an incident there before.

Police are looking for a tall black male with a dark complexion, wearing a hat and shades. They say the weapon type is unknown type weapon and there is no word on vehicle.
