ALBANY, GA. -- Black History month is a little over a week away and to kick things off Hollywood has released an action film about the nation’s first African American military aviators, the Tuskegee Airmen.
Facing opposition, the group of aviators served the United States during World War II.
Movie goers turned out to see the George Lucas produced film for entertainment purposes but many left with a history lesson.
“African Americans were held back but then they made their way into history,” said Prabhu Dwaram.
The movie also left some with life lessons to keep.
“Never give up on your goals in life and never let a friend down when they're in danger,” said Qua'nevia Bridges.
The film about the Tuskegee Institute trained aviators opened Friday and stars Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard.
