Today Dougherty County Schools held its annual academic decathalon competition.

Dozens of students from the school system competed it's an academic bowl of sorts.

Students studied the theme of colonialism tthis year.With that knowledge they have to demonstrate their knowledge through a series of six test in art, music, science, language and literature and math and each test timed for 30 and essay and a super quiz.

Cassandra Sampson of the Dougherty County Schools System says " it focues on academics this allows the children to study a particulars go in-depth more so in a particular subject matter in actually various subject matters outside of the classroom."

The top performers will move on to represent the Dougherty County School System on the state level in the coming months.
