ALBANY, GA --
An evening drive leads to a man being chased and forced into an accident causing a Ford Expedition to turn over.

According to the Albany Police Department, 35-year-old Alfonzo Barge was driving a Chevy Sonoma approaching the intersection of Jackson Street and Oglethorpe Boulevard when the rear of his car was allegedly hit by 48-year-old Donald Wayne Bynum driving a Chevrolet Silverado. Barge then began to drive on West Highland to get away from the suspect.

APD says that Bynum continued to follow and strike Barge with his vehicle as they were travelling on Highland. As they approached Highland and Magnolia, the suspect struck the rear of Barge's car, pushing him into the path of of a Ford Expedition driven by Tammie Anderson who was travelling on Magnolia Street.

“The suspect believed that the victim knew his wife and that his wife was in the car with him but the suspect's wife was not in the car with him.”  said Albany Police Public Information Officer Phyllis Banks.

Barge crashed into Anderson's vehicle causing it to overturn from the impact.

While Anderson was transported to the hospital, Bynum was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking and three counts of aggravated assault.

Albany police officials say Barge's wife has put a restraining order against him.

Silke Deeley with Liberty House says for stalkers it's all about power and control.  January is National Stalking Awareness Month and officials say people have to be aware of the signs.

“Stalking is one of those situations where you really have to have some evidence that something is occurring,” said Liberty House Executive Director Silke Deeley.

She says stalking could start off with friendly gestures like gifts and escalate to threats or violence. She says that's why it's important for victims to be vigilant about exercising their rights.
