ALBANY, GA -- The city commission reappointed Willie Weaver to Municipal Court Judge at Monday night's meeting.

Two commissioners did propose another name--Phil Cannon, who has been filling in during Weaver's absence.

Weaver was suspended after he was arrested for allegedly hitting his wife over the head with a beer bottle.

In November, he was reinstated by the commission in a four to two vote.

Monday night, commissioners Bob Langstaff and Roger Marietta were the only two who recommended Cannon for the position.

“I thought Phil Cannon did a pretty good job, I thought Phil was firm and unbiased. And I hope Phil will put in again in the future,” says commissioner Roger Marietta.

At the time of Weaver's reinstatement in November, commissioners had said there just wasn't enough concrete evidence to justify firing him.
