DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA -- Craig Moye with Mauldin and Jenkins says Dougherty County's finances are "healthy" for a county this size. In the past fiscal year, the county came in at $1.7 million under budget. This at a time when each employee was mandated to take five furlough days and make additional cutbacks.
“Revenues were in line and they had budgeted to have a substantial loss; however that didn't happen, they only had a loss of about a million dollars instead of the three million dollars they were thinking,” says Moye.
Commissioners hope to do as well in the next fiscal year.
