SYLVESTER, GA -- Worth County fire officials say a house at Pine Forest and Sumner Road caught on fire after embers escaped an old fire place.

They say the fire in the fireplace caused old mortar holding it together to be eaten away at: That's how they say the embers escaped, igniting the house fire.

Fire officials say the flames were knocked out quickly and very little damage was done. They say it took one fire unit to put it out.
