GSP sees 12 fatal crashes in New Year weekend

Updated: Georgia State Patrol reports there were 13 fatalities over the New Year weekend along with crashes and injuries

ALBANY, GA --
With the New Year weekend being one of the biggest drinking holidays of the year, Georgia State Patrol was out in full force monitoring the roads.

According to the GSP website, there were 225 crashes and 116 injuries, just based on their counts. Last year there were almost 1,500 crashes and nearly 600 injuries based on counts from all agencies.

GSP reports that there were 13 fatalities over the New Year weekend this year; in 2010 there were 12.

GSP’s New Year weekend ran from 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30 through midnight on Monday, Jan. 2.
