ALBANY, GA. -- After two fatal deaths are connected to the Neti pot, our Facebook users want to know if nasal rinses are safe.

Doctors with the Phoebe Southwest Georgia Family Medicine Residency say it's safe to use the instrument as long as people take precaution.

If the pots aren't cleaned properly they could grow bacteria that may cause death.

They say people should make sure to use sterile or previously boiled water to make the solution. Tap water is not advised.

After using the pot make sure to wash it with soap and water.
