The Albany Police Department needs your help finding 30-year-old Leon Cox.  / Albany Police Department

ALBANY, GA -- The Albany Police Department is looking for public assistance in locating a person of interest for an assault on Cherry Avenue.

The APD is looking for 30-year-old Leon Cox. He is described as being 6'5 and weighing 178 pounds. His last known address was 803 West Whitney Avenue.

Authorities believe he may have information which can assist them with an aggravated assault that occurred in the 600 block of Cherry Avenue.

The incident happened on December 4, 2011 at approximately 9:56 p.m. in the above area. The victim Ilyasha Davis, age 27, told police two black males fired shots at her vehicle during an attempted robbery. One of the shots struck the driver side door and entered the vehicle. Davis was injured and sustained a gunshot wound to her leg.

If anyone has information regarding this incident or the whereabouts of Leon Cox, they should call the Albany Police Department or Albany Crime Stoppers.
