ALBANY, GA -- The city commission also met with state representatives Monday.

The topic of conversation--the energy tax.

Some believe in repealing the tax in order to attract more industries.

Surrounding states such as Florida and Alabama do not implement the tax.

Commissioner Chris Pike says doing away with the tax would help Proctor and Gamble, giving them more room to hire more employees.

“We need to look at ways, if we can, that can help ease that burden for businesses cause at the end of the day, the more people you have employed in your city, the better your economy is going to be,” says Pike.

P&G is the second largest producer of energy in the state.

Representatives say without the tax, the state would lose around $160 million in revenue.
