ALBANY, GA. -- Darton College honor students are using their literary skills to uplift the less fortunate this holiday season.

The students are writing Christmas cards to pass out to the elderly, disabled, and mentally ill residents of southwest Georgia.

Each student was asked to write a special message on a card and have other students sign-off.

Once the project is complete, there will be 150 cards of inspiration.

“A lot of them don't get Christmas cards. They don't get a lot of Christmas cheer at all and we just wanted to give something to a large group of people that will have the greatest impact that we can have,” said Darton College Dean of Humanities Elizabeth Perkins.

This is the third year the college has hosted the event.

School faculty say each year more and more students show interest and participate.
