The Americus Police Department arrested Green's cousin Daryl Green in connection with his death
AMERICUS, GA -- Eric Green, 34, from Americus is dead after his cousin allegedly shot him several times on Sunday.
The Americus Police Department responded to the call at Academy Street and Pine Street in reference to several reports of a gunshot victim at approximately 11:35 a.m. Green was pronounced dead at the hospital by an attending physician, according to APD.
Police say bystanders told officers that Daryl Toraill Green, 36, Eric’s cousin was the person who shot him. They say Daryl was standing a short distance away from the scene in his front yard on Academy Street; investigators say Daryl later informed them that the gun used in the shooting was on a living room table which proved to be true based on a search later.
Police arrested Daryl and charged him with Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He is currently incarcerated at the Sumter County Law Enforcement Center.
