Community leaders get together to talk poverty

ALBANY, GA -- Poverty was again the topic of discussion at a community forum Thursday in Albany.

Today's was put on by the Department of Community and Economic Development.

They called in community leader's to go over the results of the 2010 poverty analysis study done by the city of Albany.

“Today is one of those solution driven objectives, which is to bring the community together and go into a deeper level of who do we pool all of our current and existing resources to make them more effective and more efficient,” said Dr. Veronica Adams-Cooper.

According to the study the number of people in poverty in Albany has jumped to 40 percent; up from 27 percent in 2008.
