Update: APD arrests Nicholas Dontrell Johnson

ALBANY, GA -- 3rd Update (12/12/11 11:30 AM):

Albany Police Department have confirmed the arrest of Nicholas D. Johnson. He was found in the 500 block of Ardmore Lane.

Johnson was charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a firearm during a crime and transported to the Dougherty County Jail.



2nd Update:

Police are looking for 20-year-old Nicholas Dontrell Johnson in connection to the shooting that sent Jantarious Bronner to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Johnson is wanted for armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm.

If you have any information you’re asked to call the Albany Police Department or Crimestoppers at 229-436-TIPS.  Any call leading to an arrest and conviction in the case could receive up to $1,000.


1st Update

The Albany Police Department has issued the following regarding last night's shooting:

Officers responded to the 600 block of West Society Avenue Alley in reference to an Armed Robbery of a person and shooting incident.

Jatarious Bronner told police that an unknown black male approached him and demanded money as the victim exited his vehicle. The two got into a struggle over the gun. And while on the ground, Bronner sustained a gunshot wound to the right thigh.

Bronner further stated that the suspect took money from him and the suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The victim described the suspect as a young black male approximately 18 to 19 years of age, about 6 feet or 6 feet 1 inches tall, with a light complexion, dressed in all black clothing, with a tattoo in the face. The victim was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. This case will remain active pending additional investigation


Initial Story
FOX 31 was first on the scene of a shooting at 705 N. Madison. The call came in at approximately 11:45 p.m. Thursday evening.

One subject was shot in the upper leg during a robbery at the residence, according Capt. Tracey Barnes with the Albany Police Department. Barnes says the subject was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are currently at the scene.

Police are looking for a 19-year-old black male with light skin and low cut hair. They say he is approximately six-feet tall.
