ALBANY, GA -- The Dougherty County commission, and several other commissions in the state, must submit a copy of their American Disability Act to the Georgia Department of Transportation to show they are complying with the bill that was first passed in 1992.

The problem is, most commissions are unable to find the original document, including Dougherty County, but commissioners say they will continue searching their archives.

“If we cannot locate the physical document itself, we'll have to go back through the tedious process of recompiling the information or the current information and resubmit a new plan,” says Dougherty County Administrator Richard Crowdis.

Crowdis says every building in the county is in compliance with the law.
