Stores in Downtown Albany had their own Black Friday bargains; customers lined up early to get into the stores.

ALBANY, GA -- While many went to the big department stores and the mall for Black Friday deals, downtown Albany had Black Friday bargains of its own.

Stores like Verge, Global Essence and the newly opened My Sister’s Place participated in a Black Friday event. Verge had ten percent off of the entire store, which continues through Saturday.

The boutique My Sister’s Place -- which opened on Friday -- did not have any specific deals but they did resemble the biggest shopping day of the year in another way.

"First thing this morning we had people coming in before we ever opened, so we just went ahead and unlocked the door and let them come on in," says Owner Missy Whitney.

The stores say they had a steady stream of business throughout the day.
