ALBANY, GA -- For some, picking out that perfect Christmas tree right after finishing their turkey and stuffing, is a tradition.

But you want to make sure that tree does not become a fire hazard.

Some websites boast of a solution you can spray on your tree to keep it from catching fire.

Firefighters say the jury is still out about these sprays.

“Because the chemical solutions dries the tree out, making it more flammable,” says Assistant Chief Seabon Burns of the Albany Fire Department.

Keeping your tree well watered is the best protection and you should check your tree for water daily.
