ALBANY, GA. -- In Tuesday night’s Albany Board of City Commissioners meeting officials approved another step to bring the Olive Garden to the area.

Southern Hospitality Management Inc. made a request to rezone their property located at the corner of Dawson Rd. and Westover Blvd.

That’s where the Italian restaurant is set to be built this upcoming spring.

“We want to wind down our operations by the end of the year. The demolition process should take 60 to 75 days at which time we then turn over the parcel," said  Southern Hospitality Management Inc. Owner Milan Patel, "At this time, let’s say  it should be an April 1st turnover and a 150 day construction.”

He says the parent company of the Olive Darden is shooting for a September 2012 grand opening.
