ALBANY, GA -- Police want to remind people to be on alert this holiday season.

Every holiday season they say they see an increase in crime.

Saturday police Chief John Proctor spoke at a town hall meeting, giving tips so people don't become a victim.

“We're just asking for people to be vigilant, move about in pairs. Look out for each other and take care of themselves their homes and lock their property up and secure it,” said Chief Proctor.

Proctor says he plans to put more officers on the street as well, with extra patrols in high traffic areas like the mall and downtown.
