ALBANY, GA -- The first in a new fleet of buses has been delivered to Albany Transit.

Officials showed off the new bus Friday morning. They say they have five more on the way.

Each bus cost about $400,000 but most of the bill was picked up with state and federal funds.

“It will be something new and refreshing for the city, something that the city can be proud of. Our citizens are asking for new buses and our drivers are very thrilled and happy about it too,” said Albany Transit Director David Hamilton.

The department will retire six older buses that have each racked up more than 300,000 miles. Officials say they hope to have all of their new buses on the road at the beginning of next year.
