ALBANY, GA -- A Place for Hope celebrated their first birthday this morning. The resource center for homeless people started operating last November.

They say in the past year they've been able to help hundreds of people some are even out on their own now.

“We've had several people now who have come as homeless an now have their own place to stay, have their own jobs have their own piece of mind, some of them even have gym memberships and some have these normal services that we would take for granted. A lot have been able to reconnect with family and get back home others have just been able to make those necessary connections and get back on their feet,” said Capt. Doug McClure of the Salvation Army.

There nearly 100 volunteers at a Place for Hope. In the past year they've had over 6,000 contacts with individuals needing service.
