ALBANY, GA -- The City Commission revisited the issue of a Johnnie Johnson memorial at Tuesday's meeting.

Yaz Johnson, son of the Civil Rights activist, first requested that the Oglethorpe Bridge be named for his father; however it's already set to be commissioned for war veterans from Dougherty County.

Commissioner Chris Pike offered the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport and The Albany Municipal Auditorium as options.

Pike says Johnson was receptive to the ideas.

“I don't think there's any contention. I think that here shortly we will have a resolution to his concerns,” says Pike.

The commission previously offered Johnson the plaza and fountain in front of the Government Center, but Johnson refused.
