ALBANY, GA. -- Parents with children eligible for free school lunch programs, may soon have an option to receive discounted internet service.

The offer which is set to start next summer will provide cable service to families for just $10 dollars a month for up to two years.

This is a part of an initiative by the Federal Communications Commission to get broadband set up in homes.

Officials say without internet access people aren't able to educate themselves or find jobs.

So far Comcast and several other major cable companies have agreed to the discounted service.

As of right now, FOX 31 has no word on local cable providers participating in the program.
