AMERICUS, GA -- State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said today that Robert C. (Bob) Ingle, Sr., a former sheriff of Sumter County, has been named manager of the Georgia Department of Labor's Americus Career Center.

"Bob is a great addition to our management team," said Butler, "and is well-respected in the Sumter County area because of his years of public and community service. I'm confident that he will do an outstanding job leading our efforts to provide excellent assistance to employers and jobseekers, as we work together to rebuild our state's economy."

Ingle served as sheriff of Sumter County from January 2001 through December 2004. He joined the labor department in the Americus Career Center in 2005 and was promoted to employment marketing representative in 2010.

A native of Columbus, Ingle is a 1966 graduate of Jordan High School. After high school, he entered the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War.

Ingle holds a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Columbus State University and a master of science degree in administration from Georgia Southwestern State University.
