ALBANY, GA. -- Stars of a high grossing film are giving southwest Georgians a chance to receive the movie's message and take it a step farther.

Actors of the movie “Courageous” are teaching a course to help people change their lives.

Producers of the film say it's been box office gold, pulling in high ticket sales and rave reviews, but their message is clear; it's about strengthening the Kingdom and improving the lives of Christian believers.

“We want people to experience the message that is in the movie to be able to go deeper into how to be great parents and how to be courageous in their lives,” said Sherwood Associate Pastor and “Courageous” Producer Stephen Kendrick.

A six week study called the “Courageous Experiment” has been developed as a follow-up to the movie has Sherwood members and non-members crowding in.

“It’s just a great time for people to do something that we can't do in any other city but we can do here at Sherwood in Albany since we made the movie here,” said Stephen Kendrick.

Mark Glow, an instructor in the course, played a sheriff in the film. Not only did his audience interact with him, they also heard his sermon on the importance of key scenes in the movie.

“It was based on the gun scene on the gun range when Ken Bevel shares the gospel with the rookie,” said Actor Mark Glow.

He used scripture as a go-by as listeners took notes to remember what they learned.

“Being a father, we need to take care of our family and spend more time with our kids,” said participant Bruce Chung.

Just as the movie preached a message to be courageous, Chung and his wife says the course has had a profound effect on their lives.

They say they anticipate growing from week to week.

The “Courageous Experience” is free and open to anyone who wants to attend. It will last until November 13, 2011.

Classes are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Sundays at Sherwood Baptist Church on Whispering Pines Road.
