ALBANY, GA. -- Four Maintenance Center civilian marines are heading overseas to lend service men a helping hand.

The men will travel to Atlanta before crossing the Atlantic.

One will make a final stop in Kuwait, while the other three will land in Afghanistan.

Mike cross said farewell to his family and friends before boarding the plan. He says he knows he has a tough job ahead.

“We're going over there to execute some repairs on the equipment, trying to relieve some of the burden from our ground forces so that they can focus on their mission that they have to perform,” said Maintenance Center Civilian Marine Mike cross.

The men are expected to be overseas for one year.
