ALBANY, GA -- In our Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know about the divorce rate in the Bible Belt.
According to new Census data, 10 out of every 1,000 men and 11 out of every 1,000 women got divorced in the south in 2009.
People marrying early are being credited with the high divorce rate. Experts say it's often at an age where they can't handle the responsibility.
“There are 16,17,18 year olds out there that know exactly what we want to do, but a majority of them don't and a majority of them don't know what they need to be happy yet either. That typically happens later, mid-20's, mid-30's, some of us in the 50's and 60's,” said Andy Martin of Insight Psychotherapy.
The region with the lowest divorce rate was the Northeast, with about 7 out of every 1,000 people divorcing.
