Arrest made in shooting death of Billy Hewitt

24-year-old Michael Russell and charged him with one count of murder for the September 23 shooting death of Billy Hewitt / Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations and the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in a murder case.

Authorities arrested 24-year-old Michael Russell and charged him with one count of murder for the September 23 shooting death of Billy Hewitt.

Hewitt suffered one gunshot wound to his torso and later died at the hospital.

Officials tell FOX 31 News that the case is not closed at this time, however they wouldn’t disclose any other details on why the case is not closed.
