ALBANY, GA -- In our Facebook Story of the Day, you wanted to know more about LinkedIn and if it’s beneficial to your job search.
Social media experts say LinkedIn is a more professional, clean version of Facebook that displays resume items without all of the games that Facebook has.
With LinkedIn, they say to make as many connections with business people and companies.
For those who are not sure how to use it, social media experts say start by using a feature located on a sidebar called “Profile Completion Steps.”
“If you follow those steps, and then just engage. Every once in a while go on and check for new connections. Be sure that you are looking at some of the groups on linked in that have to do with your areas of interest or your field of work. Those sort of engaging qualities will keep you active enough that you'll be able to make positive use of the site,” says Casey Perkins from Lemonade Marketing.
Perkins says employers are searching on LinkedIn for people with the experience and skill set they are looking fro.
Experts say following one contact that you know could lead to another contact, and that may lead to a potential employer contact.
