ALBANY, GA -- New construction is coming to Albany!

The Payroll Development Authority authorized the letter of intent for the company at Monday’s meeting.

Ted Clem confirmed that a small to medium sized distribution facility is planned for the industrial park across from Proctor & Gamble.

Clem says the company already has a "small presence" in Albany and is looking to expand.

Chairman Jeff Sinyard says this is a win-win for Albany.

“To be able to build a distributing company and to bring jobs is very important,” says Sinyard.

“It's very encouraging we have companies that like doing business here and want to grow here and are now investing new money into our local economy,” says Economic Development Commission Director Ted Clem.

The Payroll Development Authority also approved a bond issuance to be used for the construction of new dorms at Darton College.

The construction project will be $30 million and still needs approval from the University System Board of Regents.
