ALBANY, GA -- The fire department is planning their 17th annual Kids Fire Safety Day this week.

The event is meant to teach children ways they can prevent fires and what to do in case of a fire.

“How not to play with matches and how to alert the parents about whenever they see matches or anything hanging around, that they shouldn't play with it. We try to teach them as much as we can, to learn how to protect their family but also to be able to protect themselves,” says fireman Lt. Lorenzo Hall.

The event will be Wednesday at the Albany Civic Center from 9:30 to 11:30 am.
