ALBANY, GA. -- A family is mourning the loss of a loved one after a fatal accident claims his life.

Officials with the Albany Police Department say Oree Bowen Jr., 55, was driving along Lippett Road when he crossed Newton Road and struck an apartment building.

Upon impact, the vehicle caused a gas main to break and ignite with flames. The driver, who was trapped inside the 2000 Dodge Durango, died as a result.

Rebee Lassiter, 53, has been identified as the passenger in the vehicle.

Authorities say she was able to make an exit to safety.  This case is still being investigated.
