ALBANY, GA -- Portions of the maintenance center at the Marine Corps Logistics Base had to be evacuated twice Tuesday.

The entire center, nearly 2,000 employees, was moved out at about 10:30 a.m. after a gas leak was discovered. Business stopped for almost two hours while emergency crews stopped the leak.

Then at 1:15 p.m. a work area near a support vehicle was evacuated when an M67 grenade was discovered inside it. Work stopped again for about 45 minutes until the grenade was removed and placed in a bunker.

Base officials say the pin was still in the grenade and they don't think it was left in the vehicle intentionally. No one was hurt but both incidents are under investigation.
