ALBANY, GA -- A Georgia Master Gardener Committee wants to attract Monarch butterflies to Radium Springs when they begin their migration this spring from Central America up to Canada.
In order to do this, they will need to plant milkweed, which is what Monarchs need in order to lay eggs.
“It'll be something here forever that will be special and it highlights the beauty of southwest Georgia, our natural assets and also the community spirit that we have down here,” says Suzanna MacIntosh, a Georgia Master Gardener.
They hope to have it ready in the spring.
Macintosh also hopes it spurs an annual Monarch butterfly festival in Albany.
