ALBANY, GA -- Physical inactivity is a fast-growing public health problem and contributes to a variety of chronic diseases and health complications.
Exercise is Medicine is a global initiative focused on encouraging primary care physicians and other health care providers to include exercise treatment plans for patients. This multi-organizational initiative, coordinated by the American College of Sports Medicine, is committed to the belief that exercise and physical activity are integral to the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases and should be regularly assessed as part of medical care.
Exercise is Medicine Vice President Adrian Hutber, Ph.D., will be at Phoebe HealthWorks at noon Wednesday, Sept. 28, talking about “Exercise: Who Needs It?” during a Lunch ‘n’ Learn for Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital employees.
Hutber has previously served as vice president of a fitness corporation and as director of the Distance Education Division of the world’s largest physical activity publisher, Human Kinetics. He has a doctorate in exercise physiology, and coaches dance sport in his spare time. Hutber is also president and senior instructor for American Karate-Do Shotokai, a national martial arts organization.
