ALBANY, GA -- Judging by the crowd you might have thought there was a football game going on a Hugh Mills Stadium Saturday.
But the fans were for a show of bands. Fourteen bands from high schools across Southwest Georgia participated. Organizers were pleased with the turnout and support.
“Music is one of the things that are the first to be cut when it comes to educational cuts to try to balance the budget. This shows that music is important to both or students and communities,” said Torrie Goodson, a teacher at Monroe High School.
The marching bands from Albany State and Valdosta State also performed.
