ALBANY, GA -- Our local emergency responders got to eat free Tuesday. The Philly Connection gave out free sandwiches to any military personnel or emergency responders who showed up today.

It was a "thank you" for all of the hard work they do. The owner says he gave out dozens of sandwiches and was happy to do so.

“They do so much for the community and I believe that the community does need to thank them. And this is one way of us thanking those people,” said owner Sunel Merchant.

Merchant said he wanted to thank first responders after seeing their work after he was able to escape one of the World Trade Center towers on 9/11.
