ALBANY, GA -- Dougherty County’s District Attorney is giving away laptops to help local students compete in robotics competitions across the state.

Greg Edwards is giving the computers to students with the “One Hundred Black Men of Albany”. The computers will be used for programming for the robots they compete with.

“The computers did not come from taxpayer dollars. The computers were the result of seizures and moneys that were taken from criminals,” says Edwards.

Edwards, who’s been a member of the One Hundred Black Men of Albany for five years, says it’s important to get the young generation involved with science and technology.

“We've got to develop in our community the tools for our children to become competitive with the rest of the world, and certainly the future involves science and technology, and this is the way we must go,” says Edwards.

Students with the One Hundred Men of Albany will go on to compete in robotics challenges with other groups from across the state, nation and even the world.

One Hundred Black Men of America, Inc. works to enhance the educational and economic opportunities for all African Americans.
