ALBANY, GA. -- Before kids went back to school parents had the opportunity to mingle with teachers and introduce students to their new environment, but parents of high school students didn't have that opportunity, until Thursday night and the experience is FOX 31's good news story of the day.
Upper classman and their parents and guardians met for open house in all four Dougherty County high schools for a special "parents’ night".
School officials say by having the event after school starts, the students will already know their teachers and the open house will give them the opportunity to get to know them a little better.
Albany High School parents were greeted at the door by the principal, Dr. Angela Shumate.
Parents FOX 31 news spoke with say they have nothing but good things to say about the school.
This school is a great school. The academics are very well my son and my daughter is doing great here and I just love it,” said Albany High School Parent Patricia Dangerfield.
Officials say open houses are a great way of keeping parents involved and directly connected to their child’s teachers.
