ALBANY, GA. -- Albany fire authorities received a call around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday about a fire at 1413 10th Avenue.

When they arrived to the home they found heavy smoke showing from the rear of the resident.

Once officials made their way inside the home, they found three small dogs that had succumbed to the fire.

“There was a very hot fire inside of the kitchen. We made contact with the occupants no one was home at the time of the fire and the cause of the fire is still under investigation,” said Albany Fire Department Battalion Chief Keith Ambrose.

The fire appears to have started from the stove, but officials say the true cause won't be released until the investigation is complete.
