ALBANY, GA -- The City Commission voted Tuesday night to approve phase two of the lighting project along Westover Boulevard.

The project would pick up where Water, Gas and Light left off and continue to Old Dawson Road.

Some citizens have complained about the lights being too close together, but Engineering Director Bruce Maples says they're supposed to be that way.

“It's worse for you to have lights, for the drivers to have their pupils go from adjusting to light to dark, light to dark. And there are certain requirements we have to meet for lighting roadways and the D.O.T., we have to follow their standards.

The project's price tag is about $86,000 and is paid for with SPLOST II funds.
