ALBANY GA -- Some young adults are on their way careers in emergency services.

Dougherty County Search and Rescue volunteers were signing up kids to join their Explorers program Saturday.

The goal of the program is to take the kids out and teach them survival and rescue skills.

“They're going to learn first aid, map reading skills, water safety, CPR, basically how to save a life,” said Jonathan Luke of Search and Rescue.

People ages 14-20 interested in joining the Explorers should contact Jo Luke at (229) 338-6768.

The group plans on providing students with an opportunity to learn about public safety career fields and the opportunity to network with professionals already working in the various areas.

Future events from the group include “Save-A-Friend” day and a “Lost-In-The-Woods” outing.
