ALBANY, GA -- After an executive session, the City Commission appointed Phil Cannon to Assistant Albany City Judge.

Since Municipal Court Judge Willie Weaver was placed on paid leave after being arrested on domestic violence charges, his assistant, Judge Ralph Scoccimaro has been serving as primary judge. However, Scoccimaro has other cases to attend to, which prompted the appointment of Cannon.

Cannon will serve on an as-needed basis.

Cannon is also the President of the Downtown Merchant's Association and Board Member with the Albany-Dougherty Inner City Authority (ADICA).
