Updated with video;Albany Tech says goodby to the quarter system
ALBANY, GA -- It was a New Orleans style funeral at Albany Technical College. No one died but the school was celebrating the death of the quarter.
When students return in the fall their classes will no longer be on the quarter system; they'll be semesters. It’s a change taking place at all 25 of Georgia’s technical colleges.
“The State University System of Georgia and even our public schools are operating on pretty much a semester format. So when our students graduate, those that have intent to go on and further their education will not have to miss a beat at all. They will be in alignment and they will be able to go on to the next level,” said Pamela Heglar, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
Instead of 10-week quarters, classes will now be 16-week semesters.
