Honda is issuing a recall for transmission issues
ALBANY, GA -- Honda is recalling cars in the U.S. to fix a transmission issue, according to Albany Honda.
Vehicles involved in the recall include Honda CR-Vs model year 2007 through 2010, Elements model year 2005 through 2008 and Accords model 2004 through 2010 that have 4-cylinder engines.
In some of these cars, a transmission part can be damaged if the car is shifted quickly between Reverse, Neutral and Drive, as can be done when trying to free a vehicle that is stuck in snow or mud.
If the part -- a secondary shaft bearing -- is damaged, it can cause the engine to stall. It can also cause the parking gear mechanism to jam, causing the car to roll even when the gear has been placed in the Park position.
Honda will update transmission control software in the car to fix the problem, reducing the maximum engine speed that gears can be changed between Drive and Reverse.
No injuries or deaths have been reported as a result of this problem.
Albany Honda says more details will be released to the public at a later date.
