ALBANY, GA -- The Dougherty County Commission approved a partnership between themselves and the city to share Code Red for the time being.

The city asked to try out a new crime alert package grouped in with the Code Red weather alerts.

The city will be getting their own 911 system, but wants to test out the alerts before they get their system up and running.

“I'd like to make sure Code Red was used when there are critical issues that could affect safety and welfare folks, whether it be criminal or whether it be weather,” says County Chairman Jeff Sinyard.

The city will be voting to approve their  911 system later this month.
