ALBANY, GA -- Henry “Hank” Huckaby, the new chancellor of the University System of Georgia, will visit Albany State University on Wednesday, Aug. 3, to serve as the keynote speaker for the annual Faculty-Staff Conference.

“We are delighted that Mr. Huckaby accepted our invitation to speak at the Faculty-Staff Conference,” said Dr. Everette J. Freeman, ASU president. “We’re looking forward to hearing what our new chancellor has to say as we prepare to launch a new academic year.”

Huckaby, who became chancellor on July 1, is scheduled to speak at 10:20 a.m. on the first day of the three-day conference, which will be held in the ACAD Auditorium on the ASU campus. After addressing the gathering of ASU faculty and staff members, Huckaby will be available for questions from the media in room 172 of the ACAD Building.

At 11:30 a.m., Huckaby will arrive for a luncheon with community leaders in the L. Orene Hall Building. Following the luncheon at 12:45 p.m., ASU Student Government Association leaders will escort Huckaby on a tour of the campus.

With the theme “One for All and All for One: Advisement, Retention and Graduation,” the ASU Faculty-Staff Conference will address issues of importance for the upcoming academic year. The conference will continue on Aug. 4 and 5, also in the ACAD Auditorium.
