ALBANY, GA. -- For the remainder of this week Albany State University will host a Nuclear Power Plant workshop to prepare educators for teaching related courses.
The workshop is designed to provide participants with up-to-date information in the areas of construction, quality assurance and safety and regulatory requirements.
Officials say since the United States' Government gave the go ahead to license new power plants; several are being built in nearby areas.
Faculty say they want their students prepared for those jobs.
“Albany state is in the center of a lot of nuclear power plants that are going to be built in the future and there is going to be great demand for work force power. And it would be wonderful to start the school and the students in that direction,” Senior Nuclear Engineer Tony Sideris.
He says there are two power plants being built in Augusta, Georgia right now.
